Sushi

I took a quick break from the painting I’m working on to paint this for the Different Strokes From Different Folks blog. I debated doing several different things with it, but in the end left it pretty much as is.

I've decided I like eating sushi more than painting it. I really wanted sushi the whole time I was working on this. Although truthfully, I’m a wimpy sushi eater. California rolls are about as adventurous as I get, but I love them. My kids and I make them occasionally, and they are so addictive!

Nice job, Kari! The rendering is quite believable.

Your blue background really compliments the warm colors in the soy sauce and sushi. They look so real....your drawing and highlights are great!

Real nice job on this Kari. You are a master with those pastels. Congrats on winning first place with "Moored". I absolutely love that painting, so it doesn't surprise me that you won.

Thank you R - I was hoping it would be, but was not sure it quite got there.

Thanks, Carol, I appreciate it!

Thank you, Vern! I do love pastels. And winning for Moored was a fun surprise - thanks, I'm glad you like it!

Great job, Kari. It looks good enough to eat, if it WAS good enough to eat. And you have an award waiting...coffee's on.

What a beautiful painting! Anyone who can make sushi look that good deserves a WHOLE plateful of it!!

Thanks James & Deb! I'm definitely going to have to make some soon. Next week the kids are off school and I won't get much work done anyway. Might as well have a sushi party! I'm not going to paint it, though. ;)
