Still Life in Soft Pastel

My friend Pat Meras (an extraordinarily talented pastel artist - check out her blog!) gave me a little white box lined with newspaper and filled with pears from her tree. I don't know whether Pat consciously tried to make this box of pears look so appealing, or if everything she touches turns out to be a work of art, but I knew I had to paint it. The pears were delicious, too. Thanks, Pat!

Love your soft pastels Keri. I have never seen of used suede matboard, where do you get it? Is it like sanded paper? You use it well!

Thanks, TJ! I appreciate your taking the time to stop by and comment. :)

Thank you Mary Anne! You can usually get suede matboard from any framer. Most will sell you a blank to try if you don't want to invest in a whole sheet. My local Joann's Fabrics will let me use their framing coupons for the matboard, so if you have one close by you might try that. Makes it the cheapest place to buy for me. It is not anything like sanded paper. It is very soft.

beautiful...........I love the crossword and comic of the paper showing. It brings the pears on top of being sweet, it adds the extra pleasure category we get from those items too. Perfect !
