Still Life in Soft Pastel - Cars

I've never considered myself a still life painter, but this new series I've started could make me turn into one.  They're super fun.

"Traffic Jam"
18" x 24"
Soft Pastel on La Carte

These are my son's old cars which he had saved in a box in his closet.  Funny thing I've learned about men and their toy cars, they remember all of them.  From what I've seen so far, men seem to turn into little boys when they look at this painting.  I couldn't have hoped for a better response.

Oh I love it. I have two boys and boxes and boxes of cars like that. And yes, from when they were toddlers they knew each brand and model it seemed....LOL. Fabulous painting.
Like the xmas variety too - what’s next? You could do lots with this idea....go for it!

INCREDIBLE piece Kari. Your technique is stellar. You beat me to it with this one, both in content and even better (or worse, depending on how you look at it) with the title. I'm participating in a group show next spring, "Plane, Trains & Automobiles......the imagery is slightly different, but I was going to put some Hot Wheels/ Matchbox cars in a Jam bottle......It has mass universal appeal. I LOVE IT, your photorealism skills are outstanding!

Kari, what a beautiful 50 car pileup. This is an outstanding piece. As haphazard as it appears, I know otherwise...great composition.

Thanks, Vern! I'm glad you like it. It did take me quite a while to get the composition the way I wanted it. :)
