Trains For the Elliott Fouts Gallery

I hope this is the only time you'll be able to say my work looks like a train wreck!

"Train Wreck"
18" x 24"
Soft Pastel

I have been invited by the Elliott Fouts Gallery to participate in their Planes, Trains, and Automobiles show, March 3 to April 3, 2012.  Both "Train Wreck" and "Traffic Jam" will soon be on their way to Sacramento for the show.  I've seen some of the amazing work going into this show (go check out Alvin Richard's painting!) and I predict it is going to be fantastic.  If you're in the Sacramento area, this is a show you won't want to miss!

See the Elliott Fouts Gallery's web site for details of the show, or to inquire about this painting, or follow them on Facebook.

Special thanks to my friend Nick Moffitt for allowing me to borrow his vintage train cars, some of which his father made years ago.  I'm very grateful to have been able to use them.

Amazing work...how did you work out all that detail in pastels, is a mystery to me.

I think your hitting a home run, straight out the park with your last three paintings....Train Wreck and Traffic Jam create a great narrative together. The visual impact is sticking because there is no real main focal point. They are works of immense technical dexterity, but even more on the cerebral aspect of truly being able to see things properly as the truly are. Thanks for the plug on your blog, it's going to be a priviledge to have my work hang in the same space along side your masterworks!

Thank you, Alvin! I truly appreciate your kind words, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be hanging with you!

Kari, many times when I glance at your paintings, I initially wonder if its the original photo. And this one created the same kind of stir. I wonder if you have a magic wand or something. But seeing your step-by-step instructions, I know how much hard work goes in for your paintings. And you have an eye for perfection especially for the light effects and the 'natural' texture of an object. My salute, hats off, bow, what not!!! I literally get goose bumps seeing your "creations". Thanks much for sharing them with us - they are pure delight!
